MIKKEL NIELSEN is a Danish design studio that works at the intersection between art, design, and architecture. The studio explore the aesthetic potential of fusing Scandinavian design with new technology and production methods, which can result in a truly sustainable quality of longevity.

‘I want to create a world adorned with ornamentation to bring beauty and playfulness into our daily lives’

Graduated from the Danish School of Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in 2011. Mikkel has been working professionally as an architect in Denmark, Japan, Norway and Poland. His work experience spans over residential and office building to industrial, infrastructure and urban planning.

For the past five years, Mikkel Nielsen has been exploring new ways to combine Scandinavian design with new technology and different forms of traditional craftsmanship. He has created a unique, digital yet organic style realised through new production methods and with a high aesthetic and sustainable potential.

Recently, his works have been presented at the Biennale of Crafts and Design at the Copenhagen Contemporary and Salone del Mobile in Milan in collaboration with Tableau Cph. His most famous piece, a three meters tall installation ‘Soft Structure’ is currently on view at the Designmuseum Denmark as the highlight of the ‘Future is Present’ exhibition.
